ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – The government has unveiled a 30-day action plan to ease congestion at major ports, including measures to transfer, auction, and dispose of stranded containers, according to a report on Sunday. Authorities have directed that goods be moved to off-dock terminals and stressed the development of a new mechanism for handling transshipment cargo, ensuring uninterrupted port operations.

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has been instructed to permit the disposal of abandoned containers, while the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) must submit a comprehensive transfer plan within a week. The plan also mandates completing the auction of containers within a month. Officials say that clearing excess cargo will free up space at terminals and is expected to significantly enhance overall port efficiency.
