Government Intensifies Crackdown on Electricity Theft Across Pakistan

Over Rs. 12.6 billion recovered, with more than 86,000 arrests in nationwide effort

The government, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, has intensified efforts to combat electricity theft, achieving notable progress in its mission to restore economic stability and address the country’s power crisis.

Recent reports reveal that authorities have recovered over Rs. 12.6 billion from individuals involved in power theft across Pakistan. The crackdown has also led to the apprehension of more than 86,326 people linked to these offenses.

Between October 13th and October 26th, authorities recovered over Rs. 126.6 million from electricity thieves in cities such as Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Islamabad, Multan, Peshawar, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Quetta, and other regions, with 308 arrests made during this period.

The government and relevant agencies are determined to eliminate electricity theft entirely. These ongoing operations aim not only to reclaim lost revenue but also to address the wider power crisis that impacts economic stability.

By intensifying efforts against power theft and recovering substantial funds, authorities are working to strengthen the national electricity distribution system, ensuring a more reliable and sustainable power supply for both citizens and businesses.
