ISLAMABAD: Google’s Year in Search 2025 highlights what captured Pakistan’s attention online throughout the year — from cricket and entertainment to tech, recipes, and daily-life queries, offering a clear look at the country’s evolving digital behaviour.

Cricket Stays on Top — With Dramas Close Behind

Cricket continued its reign as Pakistan’s most-searched topic, with high-interest matchups involving Pakistan vs South Africa, India, and New Zealand dominating queries.
Major tournaments such as the Pakistan Super League, Asia Cup, and ICC Champions Trophy led the list of most-searched sporting events, reflecting the nation’s unwavering love for cricket.

Rising cricketing stars — including Abhishek Sharma, Hassan Nawaz, and Irfan Khan Niazi — also saw a surge in popularity as fans followed their performances throughout the year.

Beyond sports, Pakistani users turned their attention to local dramas. Hits like “Sher”, “Judwaa”, and “Aas Paas” topped drama-related searches, showing the strong pull of storytelling and on-screen entertainment.

Tech Searches Highlight Growing Interest in AI

Pakistanis displayed a growing fascination with emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence. Tools such as Gemini, On4t, and Google AI Studio were among the top tech-related searches.

Streaming platforms remained in focus as well, with apps like myco and Tamasha trending due to their cricket coverage. Searches for non-fungible tokens (NFTs) also indicated curiosity about digital innovation.

News, Weather Alerts, and Government Schemes Drive Searches

Pakistanis relied heavily on Google for real-time updates on important national events. Key incidents — including the Karachi floods and flooding near the Chenab River — prompted high search volumes as people sought timely information and safety updates.

Users also showed strong interest in government initiatives such as the Punjab Socio-Economic Registry, Asaan Karobar Card, and the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme 2025.

Educational updates — particularly FBISE and other exam results — and economic indicators like gold rates remained among top informational searches. International affairs, including developments related to Iran, also attracted widespread curiosity.

Recipes: Tradition Meets Modern Trends

Food-related searches showed a blend of classic Pakistani cooking and modern dietary preferences. Traditional dishes — including mutton, beef, sweets, dough-based foods, and soups — remained favourites.
Meanwhile, increasing searches for quinoa, tofu, and sandwiches reflected a shift toward healthier and global culinary choices.

How-To Searches Reflect a Digitally Engaged Nation

The introduction of Karachi’s e-challans emerged as the most-searched “how-to” topic of 2025, with users nationwide eager to understand the new traffic enforcement system.

Other trending queries spanned practical areas such as car insurance, investments, and even creative interests like producing Ghibli-style photos — showcasing the country’s blend of curiosity, adaptability, and digital creativity.
