ISLAMABAD: Google has started rolling out a new AI-powered feature on its Play Store, aimed at helping users quickly understand app reviews. The feature, available in limited capacity, provides a concise three- to four-sentence summary of user feedback under the “Ratings and reviews” section, highlighting both positive and negative experiences. Each summary is labeled “Summarized by Google AI.”
In addition to AI summaries, Google Play Store now offers new review filters, called “chips,” that allow users to categorize reviews based on specific app features or issues, such as interface, stability, or functionality. This makes it easier for users to find relevant feedback quickly.
While similar features are already available in other app stores, this update strengthens Google’s AI integration within its ecosystem. The Play Store has previously offered “App highlights” and Q&A features that allow users to interact with Google’s AI, Gemini, though some features are still rolling out gradually.

Experts note that while AI summaries are useful, there are concerns about whether AI can fully capture the nuances of user feedback. Google, however, appears committed to expanding Gemini-powered tools in the Play Store, signaling more AI-driven updates in the future.
