Google Issues Second Emergency Chrome Security Update in a Week
The latest update targets CVE-2025-12036, a high-severity flaw in Chrome’s V8 JavaScript engine.
ISLAMABAD: If you’re among the 3.5 billion people using Google Chrome on Windows, Mac, Linux, or Android, it’s time to pay attention. Google has released its second emergency security update in just one week, addressing a critical vulnerability that could put users at risk of remote code execution attacks
The latest update targets CVE-2025-12036, a high-severity flaw in Chrome’s V8 JavaScript engine. This vulnerability allows attackers to execute malicious code simply by getting users to visit a compromised website; no further action is needed from the user.
Srinivas Sista from the Chrome team confirmed that Google’s AI-powered Big Sleep security tool discovered the issue. Details about the bug remain restricted until most users have received the fix. The update is rolling out to all platforms and should reach users over the coming days and weeks.
How to Protect Yourself
Protecting your browser is straightforward. Update Chrome to version 141.0.7390.122 or .123 on Windows and Mac, 141.0.7390.122 on Linux, and 141.0.7390.122 on Android. Chrome usually updates automatically, but you can check manually by opening the settings menu and selecting “About Google Chrome.” This will prompt the browser to check for updates and install the latest version.
