Google Chrome for Android to soon allow grabbing frames from videos

Google Chrome for Android to Get Video Frame Copying and Saving Feature

Islamabad: In a significant update, Google Chrome for Android is set to introduce a new feature allowing users to copy and save frames from videos. This functionality, already available in the desktop version of Google Chrome for Mac and Windows, enables users to easily capture frames from videos for various purposes like sharing or incorporating into projects.

To utilize this feature, users can simply right-click on a video in Google Chrome on their desktop and select either the ‘Copy video frame’ or ‘Save video frame as’ options. Now, Google is working on bringing this capability to Google Chrome for Android as well.

According to a post on X/Twitter by @Leopeva64, a commit in Gerrit reveals Google’s efforts to implement the ability to copy or save frames from videos in Chrome for Android. Once rolled out, users can expect to see options like ‘Copy video frame’ or ‘Save video frame as’ when long-pressing on a video in the browser.

The commit notes indicate that the feature will initially be marked as disabled until Google completes testing and gives it the green light. It’s anticipated that the feature may first arrive in the beta version of the browser within the coming weeks, with a public release expected a few months later after thorough testing.

The addition of this functionality to Google Chrome for Android is expected to be well-received by users, offering a convenient way to capture frames from videos directly within the browser. The feature could soon become a standout capability of the web browser, with hopes for similar implementations by other browser providers like Samsung Internet and Microsoft Edge in the future.
