Gondal Takes Oath as New GB Auditor General

It is noteworthy that Maqbool Ahmed Gondal is currently serving as the Auditor General of Pakistan as well.

Gilgit: Maqbool Ahmed Gondal took oath as the Auditor General of Gilgit-Baltistan during a formal ceremony held at the Supreme Appellate Court of Gilgit-Baltistan. Chief Justice of the Supreme Appellate Court, Justice Sardar Muhammad Shamim Khan, administered the oath.

The ceremony was attended by several distinguished officials, including Chief Judge of the Chief Court Ali Baig, Chief Election Commissioner Raja Shehbaz Khan, Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Abrar Ahmed Mirza, Inspector General of Police Afzal Mehmood Butt, Joint Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Council Sudheer Ahmed Khattak, Secretary Information Dildar Ahmed Malik, as well as judges, staff members, and other dignitaries.

The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, and was conducted by Registrar of the Supreme Appellate Court, Aqil Hassan Chauhan. After the oath-taking, participants congratulated the newly appointed Auditor General and expressed their best wishes, hoping he would further strengthen financial discipline, transparency, and accountability in the region.

It is noteworthy that Maqbool Ahmed Gondal is currently serving as the Auditor General of Pakistan as well.

Following the ceremony, the Auditor General of Gilgit-Baltistan met with Governor Gilgit-Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah and the Force Commander Gilgit-Baltistan.

During his visit, the Auditor General inaugurated a modern solarization system installed at the Auditor General’s Office in Gilgit-Baltistan. A special ceremony was organized, where Accountant General Gilgit-Baltistan Muhammad Luqman welcomed him and provided a detailed briefing on the department’s performance. Director General Audit Sajid Mehmood Raja also addressed the gathering.

In his speech, the Auditor General praised the department’s progress in digitization, digital payments, the online token system, GP Fund updates, “All Pensioners iBank,” IT infrastructure upgrades, and the e-office project. He congratulated the entire staff for their excellent performance.

The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates and shields to outstanding employees, followed by a group photo with all officers and staff.
