Gohar Faces Removal as Party Chairman

Rawalpindi-(Mudassar Iqbal)-Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has agreed to replace Barrister Gohar as party chairman with veteran leader and former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser. This move aims to resolve conflicts within the party and maintain unity among its ranks .

Gohar was elected unopposed as chairman in December 2023, after Imran Khan’s conviction in the Toshakhana case forced him to relinquish the post ¹. Khan had personally selected Gohar for the position. However, the party has faced internal conflicts and challenges since Khan’s incarceration.

Asad Qaiser, a seasoned politician and former National Assembly Speaker, is seen as a strong candidate to replace Gohar. Qaiser recently visited Khan at Adiala Jail, but their meeting was delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. Sources claim that Qaiser has already been informed about his potential appointment.

This development comes on the heels of other leadership changes within the party. Secretary Information Raoof Hassan was recently replaced by Sheikh Waqas Akram, and Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan was replaced by Salman Akram Raja .
