Gilgit Hospital Marks World Sight Day with Special Ceremony.

A community event highlighted support and awareness for the visually impaired on World Sight Day.

Gilgit – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – On the occasion of World Sight Day, a ceremony was held at Shaheed Saif-ur-Rehman Hospital Gilgit in collaboration with the Sight Saver NGO. It was attended by a large number of people from various walks of life, students, eye specialist doctors, and social personalities.

The ceremony was presided over by the MS of Shaheed Saif-ur-Rehman Hospital, Dr. Afzal Siraj, while the Minister for Social Welfare, Population & Women Development, Human & Child Rights, Dilshad Bano was the guest of honor.

The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Afterwards, in their speeches, the hospital’s experts shed light in detail on the problems faced by the visually impaired, government and societal level measures for their rehabilitation, and the need for public awareness.

On this occasion, addressing the ceremony, Dilshad Bano said that visually impaired people are an important and respectable part of society. The Government of Gilgit-Baltistan is working on comprehensive planning for their welfare. She said that special measures in the fields of education, training, and health are essential to set such individuals on the path to self-reliance.

In his address, MS Dr. Afzal Siraj said that along with the treatment of eye diseases, special regular camps are organized at Shaheed Saif-ur-Rehman Hospital for public awareness, so that awareness regarding the protection of sight and preventive measures can be raised.

At the end of the ceremony, other specialist doctors prayed for the visually impaired and expressed their resolve that every member of society should have the right to live a life with equality, respect, and facilities.
