Gilgit: Caretaker CM Hosts Reception for Victorious Gilgit-Baltistan Polo Team

GILGIT: (Web Desk) – Caretaker Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, Justice (R) Yar Muhammad, hosted a simple yet dignified ceremony in honor of the Gilgit-Baltistan polo team, which clinched the Khyber Polo Tournament title after defeating the Chitral polo team.

Addressing the ceremony, the Caretaker Chief Minister congratulated the team on its outstanding victory and praised the players’ hard work, dedication, and exemplary teamwork, which led to the prestigious achievement. He also appreciated the role of the Pakistan Army and FCNA in promoting the sport of polo, as well as in providing guidance and professional training to the players.

The event concluded in a cordial atmosphere, with Justice (R) Yar Muhammad extending his best wishes to the team and expressing hope that it would continue to bring pride to the country through consistent performance in the future.

The Caretaker Chief Minister expressed confidence that the Gilgit-Baltistan polo team would also perform well in the upcoming Chief of Army Staff Polo Tournament to be held in Rawalpindi, as well as in the Shandur Polo Tournament. He assured that the caretaker government would take priority measures to address issues faced by polo players and to improve polo grounds across the region.

He further stated that timely coordination with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government would be ensured to develop a strategy for equal participation in the Shandur Polo Tournament, which enjoys international recognition, so that the event can be organized in a better and more professional manner.

On the occasion, the Caretaker Chief Minister presented a cheque of Rs 1 million along with souvenirs to the players of the Gilgit-Baltistan polo team. Caretaker provincial ministers were also present at the ceremony.
