Gilgit-Baltistan to provide Certified Wheat Seeds on Half Price

Gilgit: The Gilgit-Baltistan government has launched a farmer-friendly initiative for supplying high-quality, certified wheat seeds at a 50% discount. This program targets the critical need for improved agricultural yields in the region, where over 90% of the population relies on farming for their livelihood.

Recognizing the crucial role of agriculture in Gilgit-Baltistan’s economy and the welfare of its people, the government has allocated substantial funds to the Department of Agriculture. This investment aims to transform the department into a commercially viable entity, driving local agricultural production and enhancing the well-being of farmers.

Nizamat Zarif Gilgit Region has already taken the lead, distributing 823 tons of certified wheat seeds to district offices across the region. This ensures easy access for farmers to obtain these crucial seeds at significantly reduced prices. Farmers can now contact their respective district offices to take advantage of this unique opportunity and improve their crops’ potential.

The initiative further demonstrates the government’s commitment to supporting farmers and addressing their challenges. A dedicated complaint cell has been established, directly accessible to the Director of Agriculture in each region, ensuring prompt and effective resolution of any issues encountered by farmers.
