Gigi Hadid Reveals She Auditioned for Disney’s Live-Action Tangled Before Project Was Shelved

Model Took Singing Lessons for the Role of Rapunzel; Speaks Candidly on Personal Life and Relationship with Bradley Cooper

ISLAMABAD: Supermodel Gigi Hadid has revealed she once auditioned for the role of Rapunzel in Disney’s now-paused live-action remake of Tangled. The surprising revelation came during her recent cover interview with Vogue, in which she spoke openly with long-time friend Kendall Jenner.

Hadid, best known for her fashion career, disclosed that she took singing lessons in preparation for the role. “I was really proud of my scene,” she said. “The singing… I knew they were going to go with a real singer, but I’ll show you my audition scene later.”

The planned remake of Tangled was first reported in late 2024, with The Greatest Showman director Michael Gracey attached and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson set to write the screenplay. Despite early excitement, the project was quietly shelved following the disappointing box office performance of Disney’s live-action Snow White. In contrast, the studio’s adaptation of Lilo & Stitch became a breakout success, crossing the $1 billion mark and becoming the year’s top-grossing film.

While Hadid’s foray into acting didn’t result in the fairytale role, her audition marks a notable moment in her evolving career, which has begun to extend beyond the runway.

Personal Life: “She’s Waiting, But Not Forever”

Alongside her professional ventures, Hadid’s personal life continues to draw attention, particularly her relationship with Oscar-nominated actor Bradley Cooper. The pair have been romantically linked for months, and speculation around a potential engagement is heating up.

According to a report from Star Magazine, Hadid is open to marriage and “would be pleased” to tie the knot with the 50-year-old actor. However, Cooper is reportedly hesitant, with concerns over legal details like prenuptial agreements.

“Gigi’s not pressuring him and has asked those close to her to do the same,” a source told the publication. “But it’s no secret she’s waiting for this to happen.”

The source added that Cooper has sent “mixed messages,” at times speaking positively about marriage, but also showing reluctance. Hadid, according to insiders, is patient but firm: “She is not going to wait forever. He really needs to get out of his own way and just do it.”

As Hadid navigates both Hollywood dreams and matters of the heart, one thing is clear: whether on screen or off, she remains a figure of fascination.
