Faisalabad: (Abdul Majid) Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen (T.I.), Vice Chancellor GCWUF, inaugurated the Sports Week by cutting the ribbon to inaugurate GC Women University Faisalabad’s Annual Sports Festival.
Addressing the opening ceremony, the Vice Chancellor emphasized that co-curricular activities are essential for the holistic development of students, faculty, and staff. She highlighted that a healthy body nurtures a healthy mind and that sports and positive physical activities play a vital role in mental and physical well-being. She appreciated the efforts of the Deputy Director Sports and the Sports Department for the effective planning and organization of the annual festival.
During the ceremony, teams were formally introduced, followed by a group photo session. To encourage the players, the Vice Chancellor also participated by batting, boosting the morale of the teams.

The Sports Festival features cricket teams comprising male and female staff, faculty members, and students. Alongside cricket, events in badminton, table tennis, tug of war, sack race, and chair races will be held during Sports Week, while children’s gymkhana activities are scheduled for the final day.
The Annual Sports Festival will conclude on February 11 with gymkhana events, faculty musical chairs, student races, and a prize distribution ceremony. In the opening male cricket match, Chief Eleven defeated IT Services by 60 runs. The festival will continue until February 11, promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and a healthy campus environment.
