GCU Lahore Celebrates 125th Annual Sports With Awards, Competitions

LAHORE: (Web Desk) -Government College University (GCU) Lahore concluded its 125th annual sports on Tuesday with exciting gymkhana finals and a grand closing ceremony attended by students, faculty, and Old Ravians.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Omer Chaudhry and Old Ravians Union President Athar Ismail were the chief guests. Speaking at the event, the vice-chancellor highlighted the significance of annual sports as a cherished university tradition and appreciated the active participation of faculty members this year.

Awards were presented to outstanding performers across various events. Samra was named the best female athlete, while Muhammad Zubair received the best male athlete award. In athletics, intermediate student Ahmad Raza and Muhammad Zubair from the Department of Physical Education were also recognized for their remarkable performances.

In inter-class competitions, Pre-Engineering claimed first place, while ICS and ICom shared the second position. Among departmental boys’ contests, Commerce and Finance secured first, Physical Education second, and the Department of Law third. In girls’ competitions, Political Science finished first, Commerce and Finance second, and Physical Education third.

A tug-of-war match between the Vice-Chancellor XI and Old Ravians XI added to the excitement, with the VC XI emerging victorious.

The closing ceremony was also attended by Registrar Dr Shaukat Ali, Prof Dr Babar Aziz, Chairman Sports Board Yasir Sultan, Director Sports Muhammad Waseem Akhtar, and Manzoor Hassan Senior.
