GB CM Seeks Rs7 Billion Federal Aid to Rebuild Flood-Hit Infrastructure
“As of now, 10 lives have been lost and four people injured due to the flooding,” CM said.
GILGIT – Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Gulbar Khan has appealed to the federal government for Rs7 billion in aid to help restore the region’s devastated infrastructure following recent flash floods.
Addressing a press conference, CM Gulbar Khan highlighted the severity of the damage, stating that the provincial government lacks the resources to handle the crisis alone. He urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to personally visit the flood-affected areas to assess the scale of destruction.
“The floods have badly impacted seven districts, with Diamer being the worst hit,” he said. “The infrastructure worth over Rs20 billion has been destroyed, including power projects, bridges, and water systems.”
The chief minister stressed the urgent need for funds to revive essential services, particularly electricity and water supply, and to rebuild critical infrastructure.
“As of now, 10 lives have been lost and four people injured due to the flooding,” he added.
CM Gulbar reaffirmed his government’s commitment to relief efforts but emphasized that federal assistance is crucial to restore normalcy in the region.
