Gilgit: Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan Haji Gulbar Khan has said that the primary goal of the provincial government is to ensure that the special customs concessions granted by the federal government for GB traders directly benefit the people of Gilgit-Baltistan. He expressed these views while addressing a meeting of the special committee formed to finalize the export mechanism under the federal tax relief package.

The Chief Minister stressed that every district of GB should receive its fair share of the tax exemptions so that residents of remote and underdeveloped areas can also benefit from this special facilitation.

During the meeting, the provincial Secretary for Industries and Commerce gave a detailed briefing on the proposed mechanism for the export of goods, while representatives of the Chamber of Commerce also presented their recommendations.

CM Gulbar Khan directed the Secretary Industries and Commerce to consolidate the suggestions provided by the Chamber of Commerce along with the department’s proposed mechanism, in the presence of GB Assembly Member Amjad Hussain Advocate, and finalize actionable recommendations within the next two days. These proposals will be presented in the upcoming cabinet meeting for formal approval of the export framework under the tax relief policy.
