Gas Theft Crackdown: 145 Connections Disconnected, Rs 4.9 Million Fine Imposed

In Mardan, the crackdown resulted in the disconnection of six illegal gas connections, coupled with a fine of Rs 0.06 million imposed against gas theft.

LAHORE: In a relentless effort to curb gas theft, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) conducted extensive raids across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad, resulting in the disconnection of 145 illegal connections and imposing fines amounting to Rs 4.9 million.

The crackdown saw the regional team in Lahore taking action against 8 connections involved in illegal gas usage, imposing a fine of Rs 0.14 million. Similarly, in Multan, 11 connections were disconnected for unauthorized gas usage, with an additional one disconnected for employing compressors to pilfer gas.

In Peshawar, a significant number of 95 connections were severed due to direct and illegal gas usage, leading to the booking of Rs 3.32 million against gas theft cases. In Karak, six connections were disconnected, and an amount of Rs 0.60 million was booked against gas theft, accompanied by the lodging of 3 FIRs against the offenders.

Further actions were taken in Bahawalpur, where 5 connections were cut off for illegal gas use, and 12 more for compressor usage, with a fine of Rs 0.22 million imposed. Meanwhile, in Gujranwala, 3 connections were disconnected for illegal gas use, along with 1 for compressor usage, with fines totaling Rs 0.60 million.
