Gandapur Warns of Protests If Senior Judge Not Made Chief Justice

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Monday issued a strong warning to the authorities, stating that if the senior-most judge is not appointed as the Chief Justice, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will once again take to the streets in protest.

While addressing the KP Assembly, Gandapur criticized the current government, referring to it as “self-imposed” and accusing it of weakening the judiciary. He raised concerns about how the public could seek justice in a system where the judiciary’s independence appears compromised.

“The institutions meant to protect the people are being exploited to serve the interests of a select few,” Gandapur said, pointing out that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has allegedly become a tool for political vendettas instead of upholding genuine accountability.

He expressed concerns over the negative consequences of unconstitutional amendments, claiming that these changes only benefit a privileged minority, leaving the country’s 250 million citizens in worsening conditions.

Blaming the rising national debt and the decline of various sectors on decisions made against the will of the people, Gandapur declared, “We will reverse this amendment once we reclaim our mandate,” pledging to support reforms that benefit the broader public rather than an elite group.

He also vowed to hold accountable those who have shifted their political allegiances, asserting that the PTI would not let such betrayals go unchallenged.

In a larger context, Gandapur emphasized that the PTI is engaged in an ideological battle and that no amount of oppression or force would weaken their resolve. He concluded with a firm promise that the party would stand its ground and not back down.
