The incident occurred when the fuel tanker collided with a truck transporting travelers and cattle. The collision also involved several other vehicles.
Hussaini Ibrahim, spokesperson for the State Emergency Management Agency in Niger state, confirmed the death toll of 48, with efforts still underway to clear the crash site.
