Friend of Court submits report on Imran Khan health!
Supreme Court-appointed Friend of Court raises concerns for Imran Khan
ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Barrister Salman Safdar, acting as Friend of the Court following Supreme Court directives, has submitted an eight-page report highlighting serious concerns about PTI founder Imran Khan’s health, prison conditions, and access to legal counsel.
The report reveals that Imran Khan has suffered sudden and severe vision loss in his right eye, retaining only 10–15% vision despite receiving medical treatment. His eyesight was normal (6/6) until October 2025, after which cloudiness developed. Although hospitalized and treated with injections, his condition has not significantly improved.

According to the report, Imran Khan repeatedly informed the Adiala Jail superintendent about the eye problem, but adequate treatment was delayed for three months. Ophthalmologist Dr. Arif at PIMS Hospital later examined him, yet his vision remains impaired.
The report also raises concerns about limited access to legal counsel, noting that the PTI founder has not met his lawyers for the past five months and has been unable to see his sisters or other relatives.
Prison conditions were criticized as well, including insufficient heating in winter, extreme summer heat, poor sleep due to insects, absence of proper refrigeration, and instances of food poisoning. Imran Khan has reportedly been held in solitary confinement for over two years.
Barrister Safdar recommended immediate medical attention, access to books, facilitation of phone calls with his children, and ensuring fair and timely access to legal counsel. The report underscores the Supreme Court’s concern regarding both the health and legal rights of the PTI founder while in custody.
