Professor Khurshid Ahmad Honored with Prestigious Awards for Islamic Finance Services
Islamabad: Former Deputy Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Senator Professor Khurshid Ahmad, has passed away at the age of 93. He breathed his last in Leicester, United Kingdom.
Professor Khurshid Ahmad was a close associate of Jamaat-e-Islami’s founder, Maulana Syed Abul A’la Maududi. He was a prominent leader and one of the most respected figures in the party.
Jamaat-e-Islami’s Emir, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, and other leaders expressed their sorrow over his passing.
A spokesperson for Jamaat-e-Islami stated that Professor Khurshid Ahmad’s services will always be remembered.
In recognition of his remarkable contributions, Professor Khurshid Ahmad was awarded the highest Islamic banking award in 1990 for his work in Islamic economics. In the same year, he was honored with the King Faisal Award by the Saudi government for his international Islamic services.

In 1998, he received the Islamic Finance Award from the American Finance House, and in 2010, the Government of Pakistan awarded him the prestigious Sitara-i-Imtiaz for his services.
