Foreign Investment Will Remain a Dream Without Rule of Law: Omar Ayub

Barrister Gohar faces grilling during PTI parliamentary committee meeting

ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub, has raised concerns over the government’s Investment Summit, emphasizing that a country with no rule of law has no place for foreign investment.

Speaking to the media outside Parliament alongside Zartaj Gull and other leaders, Ayub pointed out that government ministers were urging the PTI founder to apologize, which, according to him, implied that all cases against Imran Khan were fabricated.

Ayub did not hold back in his criticism, labeling IG Punjab Police as a “thief” and referring to prominent PTI leaders, including Bushra Bibi, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Mehmood Rasheed, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, and Salar Kakar, as “political inmates.” He reaffirmed that all jailed leaders were aligned with Imran Khan, adding that the current government, under its 47th form, was incapable of running the country.

Earlier, PTI Chief Barrister Gohar faced intense questioning during a PTI parliamentary committee meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday. The committee members questioned Gohar over his interactions with Imran Khan, particularly why PTI founder’s sisters were not allowed to meet him. They also probed why the Secretary General stayed outside during a visit to Adiala Jail while five other members went in to meet Khan.

During the meeting, a heated exchange took place between Shahid Khattak and Shehryar Afridi over their contacts with the establishment, but Omar Ayub intervened to calm the situation. MNA Umar Bazai also protested against not being given a chance to speak during the session, prompting MNA Aamir Dogar to mock Bazai’s complaint but promise him another opportunity to speak.

Despite efforts from Zartaj Gul and Aamir Dogar to convince Barrister Gohar, he chose to leave the session early, even before Ayub’s speech. Other senior members, including Sher Afzal Marwat and Atif Khan, also refrained from participating in the protest, with Marwat openly criticizing the protest held within Parliament premises.
