Forces Eliminate Afghan Spy Linked to Terrorism at Pak-Afghan Border

Afghan intelligence agency was involved in smuggling weapons into Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD: Security forces successfully eliminated an alleged Afghan spy, Muhammad Khan Ahmadkhel, near the Pak-Afghan border on January 11. The suspect, also known as Abdullah, was attempting to flee into Afghanistan when he was killed. Sources revealed that Muhammad Khan, a 48-year-old resident of Afghanistan’s Paktika province, worked for Afghanistan’s intelligence agency and was involved in smuggling weapons and ammunition into Pakistan. These arms were reportedly supplied to terrorists in Qila Saifullah, Zhob, and Loralai, and were used in attacks against Pakistan.

An Afghan identity card was recovered from his possession, confirming his nationality. According to sources, Muhammad Khan’s activities have raised concerns about the long-standing ties between terrorism in Pakistan and elements in Afghanistan, with Pakistan claiming to have provided solid evidence of such activities to the Afghan interim government.

The incident highlights ongoing tensions between the two countries, especially regarding cross-border terrorism. Defense experts have criticized the Afghan government for failing to take adequate action against foreign terrorists operating within its borders.

In addition to security concerns, Afghanistan’s heavy dependence on Pakistan for trade, supply routes, and humanitarian aid has emerged as a critical issue. Pakistan’s ability to disrupt these vital supplies could severely impact Afghanistan’s economy, already struggling under the Taliban regime. The Taliban government, facing international isolation, continues to rely on Pakistan for diplomatic and economic support.
