
Flood Situation Worsens in Punjab Rivers; PDMA Issues Safety Warning
LAHORE-(Asif Iqbal)-The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has reported that the flood situation in major rivers across the province remains critical, with high inflows recorded at multiple headworks.
According to PDMA:
The Chenab River registered 117,000 cusecs at Marala Headworks, 248,000 cusecs at Khanki, 385,000 cusecs at Qadirabad, and 554,000 cusecs at Chiniot Bridge. At Trimmu Headworks, the flow was 239,000 cusecs.
The Ravi River witnessed 80,000 cusecs at Jassar, 110,000 cusecs at Siphon, 108,000 cusecs at Shahdara, 138,000 cusecs at Balloki, and 130,000 cusecs at Sadhnai Headworks.
The Sutlej River reported 319,000 cusecs at GS Wala, 139,000 cusecs at Suleimanki, 102,000 cusecs at Islam Headworks, and 224,000 cusecs at Panjnad Headworks.
PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia urged the public to strictly avoid unnecessary movement near rivers, warning against fishing, picnicking, or any recreational activities along riverbanks during the high flood situation.
He stressed that precautionary measures were essential to protect lives as river flows remain dangerously high.
