Flood Alert Issued as Indus River Swells at Chashma and Kalabagh

378,000–413,000 Cusecs Recorded: PDMA Warns of Possible Flooding in Punjab

Lahore-(Asif Iqbal)-PDMA Punjab has issued a medium flood alert at Chashma and Kalabagh in the Indus River. There is a possibility of water rise and flooding at Chashma and Kalabagh in the Indus River. 378,000 cusecs of water was recorded at Chashma and 413,000 cusecs at Kalabagh in the Indus River.

DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia has issued instructions to the Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners of the concerned districts to remain alert. Director General PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia said that an alert has been issued to the Commissioners of Sargodha and Dera Ghazi Khan divisions. An alert has been issued to the Deputy Commissioners of Mianwali, Bhakkar, Layyah, Kot Addo, Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh and Rajanpur.

PDMA Punjab has issued instructions to the Civil Defense, Rescue and related institutions to complete advance arrangements. An alert has been issued to the local government, agriculture department, irrigation department, health department, forest department, livestock department and transport department. In view of the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, all arrangements have been completed in advance. Staff in emergency control rooms should be kept on alert. Disaster response teams of Rescue 1122 should also be kept on high alert. Petrol and diesel should be in sufficient stock for rescue operations.

The public should be kept informed of the current situation moment by moment. Ensure evacuation of houses and livestock in river beds. Ensure provision of food, clean drinking water and other facilities in flood relief camps. Follow the precautionary measures issued by the public.
