Heavy Floods Devastate Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; Ongoing Rescue Efforts Save Lives

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa—(Special – Correspondent/We Desk) – Devastating floods have struck Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, severely damaging roads, bridges, homes, schools, and electricity systems. Over 200 people lost their lives, and many others remain missing. Swat, Buner, Shangla, Bajaur, Lower Dir, Battagram, and Mansehra were the hardest hit. Heavy rains are expected to continue until August 21.

Rescue teams safely evacuated over 2,000 stranded people, including schoolchildren, using helicopters and ground vehicles. Floodwaters and landslides blocked key roads, while cities like Abbottabad experienced severe street flooding. Tourists trapped in Kaghan Valley and Lower Dir were rescued by authorities.

Power infrastructure in Swat suffered extensive damage, with transformers and poles destroyed, leaving many areas without electricity. Authorities deployed an extra workforce and machinery to restore services quickly. Residents are urged to stay cautious and follow official instructions as relief efforts continue across all affected districts.
