Rawalpindi_Two soldiers embraced martyrdom in a firefight between security forces and terrorists in the Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, ISPR said on Saturday.

The martyrs are 29-nine-year-old Naik Muhammad Atiq from Chakwal and 36-year-old Naik Rajab Ali from Attock.

The security forces killed three terrorists, the military media wing said, adding that the dead terrorists were involved in terror activities against security forces and innocent citizens.

The gunbattle began as the security forces conducted an Intelligence Based Operation in the Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The armed forces of Pakistan are determined to uproot terrorism, the ISPR said, adding that such sacrifices strengthen the security forces’ peace resolve.

Three soldiers were martyred in a terrorist attack on a checkpost established in Zarghoon, Marget area of Balochistan on Saturday.

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said a group of terrorists attacked a security forces post early Saturday morning. The post had recently been established to help check extortion efforts targeting coal mines in the area.

Troops on the post retaliated to the fire, pushing back the terrorists. However, in the ensuing heavy exchange of fire, three soldiers embraced martyrdom while one terrorist was killed.

Based on follow-up effort, likely hideout of fleeing terrorists had been identified in nearby mountains and a deliberate blocking and sanitisation operation had been launched, the ISPR said.

“Currently, the operation is progressing well and security forces are maintaining pressure to deny terrorists escape from the area,” read the statement.

Security forces, in step with the nation, remain determined to thwart attempts at sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan, it added.
