Five Killed, 36 Injured in Tragic Bus Crash on M-2 Near Chakri

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, while families of the victims are being contacted.

Chakri: A tragic road accident occurred near Chakri on the M-2 Motorway when a passenger bus belonging to a private company lost control and crashed, resulting in five fatalities and injuries to 36 others, rescue officials confirmed.

According to a spokesperson for the Motorway Police, the accident was caused by the bus driver losing control due to slippery road conditions. The bus was traveling from Rawalpindi to Multan when the incident took place.

Emergency response teams, including Motorway Police, Rescue 1122, and FWO ambulances, promptly reached the scene after receiving the alert. The injured were provided immediate medical assistance and transported to nearby hospitals.

Among the 36 injured passengers, 22 were shifted to DHQ Hospital Chakwal, 8 to PIMS Islamabad, and 6 to DHQ Rawalpindi. Three passengers were declared dead at the scene, while two others succumbed to their injuries during treatment.

The Motorway Police spokesperson added that three of the injured were in serious condition, while 12 sustained minor injuries. Rescue operations concluded efficiently with the coordinated efforts of multiple emergency services.
