Five Dead in Rain-Related Roof Collapses in Lakki Marwat and Talagang

At least five individuals, including two women and a teenage boy, lost their lives in separate roof collapse incidents caused by persistent heavy rainfall in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat and Punjab’s Talagang .

According to rescue authorities, one tragic event unfolded in Lakki Marwat’s Sarai Naurang area, where the roof of a mud-constructed house gave way due to continuous overnight rain. The house, located near Qila Ground, was reportedly in poor condition and unable to endure the downpour.
Three members of a single family were buried beneath the debris. With the help of local residents, rescue workers retrieved the victims and transported them to a nearby medical facility. Sadly, all three were declared dead upon arrival.
The victims were identified as 15-year-old Shaukatullah, his mother, and his grandmother. A rescue spokesperson stated, “The prolonged rainfall had significantly weakened the structure, leading to the sudden collapse.”
In a separate occurrence in Talagang, a warehouse roof gave in while workers were busy packing rice. Two of the workers died on the spot, while another sustained injuries.
Rescue officials confirmed that 60-year-old Muhammad Khaliq and 40-year-old Shahbaz were killed instantly as they were trapped under the debris.
