First-Ever Scar-Free Kidney Stone Surgery Performed in Pakistan

Procedure Achieves Complete Kidney Stone Clearance Safely, Effectively

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has successfully performed its first “Non-Touch” Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery (RIRS) for kidney stones, marking a breakthrough in minimally invasive urology.

The pioneering procedure was carried out by Dr. Shabbir Hussain Chaudhry, a leading endourologist and faculty member of the Asian Urological Society of Endoluminal Surgery and Technology (AUEST).

Dr. Shabbir used advanced endoscopes and a high-precision laser to break kidney stones without direct instrument contact, making the surgery completely scar-free.

The innovative technique was completed without pre-stenting, without a Ureteral Access Sheath (UAS/FANS), without C-Arm fluoroscopy, and without general anesthesia, a rare achievement in endourology.

Despite these constraints, the procedure delivered 100% clearance of two kidney stones, demonstrating exceptional safety and efficiency.
