Lahore Police Register FIRs Following Attacks On Polio Teams

Lahore: (Web Desk) – Police have registered separate first information reports (FIRs) following attacks on polio vaccination teams in the Shahdara and Harbanspura areas of Lahore, on Monday.

According to details, a polio team under the supervision of Nadeem Ashraf Mobeen and Rabia, assigned to UC-44 Harbanspura, visited the house of Sumeera Bibi in Mehar Fayyaz Colony to administer polio drops.

Sumeera Bibi reportedly refused to vaccinate her children and asked the team to leave. She then summoned several women and five unknown individuals, who allegedly assaulted the polio team. Following the incident, Harbanspura Police registered an FIR on behalf of the team, invoking serious criminal sections.

In a separate incident in the Shahdara area, a polio team led by Arifa Tahira visited the house of Nadeem in Chaman Colony. Maria, the wife of Nadeem, allegedly refused vaccination for her children and attacked the polio team. Shahdara Police filed an FIR against the accused under serious criminal provisions.

Authorities have urged residents to cooperate with vaccination teams, highlighting that attacks on health workers are punishable under law and can severely disrupt public health initiatives.
