ZURICH: (News Desk) – FIFA has unveiled its Team of the Tournament following the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, recognising the standout performers of the competition.
According to Reuters, the prestigious XI features some of world football’s biggest stars, including Argentina captain Lionel Messi, France captain Kylian Mbappé, and Norway striker Erling Haaland.
In midfield, FIFA selected Spain captain and Golden Ball winner Rodri, alongside England’s Jude Bellingham and France’s Michael Olise for their influential performances throughout the tournament.
The defensive lineup includes Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha, Spain defenders Marc Cucurella and Pedro Porro, France centre-back Dayot Upamecano, and Argentina defender Lisandro Martínez.

FIFA said the Team of the Tournament was chosen based on players’ overall performances, consistency, and impact across the World Cup.
Meanwhile, FIFA also released its latest men’s world rankings after the tournament. Newly crowned world champions Spain climbed one place to become the world’s top-ranked team, while runners-up Argentina slipped to second.
France remained third, followed by England in fourth. Brazil and Morocco each moved up one place to fifth and sixth respectively.
Portugal, led by Cristiano Ronaldo, dropped two places to seventh, while Mexico surged four spots into the top ten after an impressive World Cup campaign.
Quarter-finalists Norway recorded one of the biggest jumps in the rankings, climbing 12 places to 19th after their strong performances in the tournament.
