Lahore_A female journalist who was covering the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march died after being crushed under Imran Khan’s container.
It is being told the deceased Sadaf Naeem was a reporter for a private news channel, Channel 5, and was covering the PTI’s long march when the accident occurred.
The PTI Chief Imran Khan also stepped off the container to personally check what had happened.
Her body was then rushed to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital (THQ) in Kamoke where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed condolence over the death of Sadaf Naeem after falling from a long march container.
Sadaf Naeem was a dynamic and hardworking reporter, the prime minister tweeted, praying the Almighty may grant courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable lost with fortitude.He announced financial assistance of Rs five million for the family of the deceased.
In a message, the prime minister prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear the loss with fortitude.
He said Sadaf Naeem was an active reporter and was committed to her work.
The PM directed the authorities to hand over cheque of financial assistance to family of the deceased journalist after immediately completing the procedure.
Sadaf Naeem died after falling from a container while covering the PTI long march near Murdike on Sunday evening.
According to the spokesperson to Chief Minister and Punjab Government, Musarrat Jamshed Cheema, Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has announced Rs2.5 million while DGPR Punjab allocates Rs1 million separately as financial assistance for the family of Sadaf Naeem.
Punjab government will also support the children of the deceased and their educational expenses will also be borne by the provincial government, Musrat Cheema added.
Chief Minister Pervez Elahi and his team members are deeply grieved over the sad demise of the journalist. Punjab government and PTI as a party stand with Sadaf Naeem’s family in this hour of sorrow, Musrat Jamshed added.
“We pay tribute to her spirit and commitment, who lost her life while fulfilling her duties,” she said adding that “a media worker’s job is not easy in today’s world.”
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said expressed condolence over the sad demise of a journalist.
“I am very saddened by the accident. Channel 5 Reporter Sadaf Naeem parted ways with us. I cannot find words to express my grief. My sympathies are with his family in this tragic time. We have cancelled our march for today, ” he said. He prayed the Almighty grant courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss with fortitude.
