Federal Minister for Power Launches Aggressive Campaign to Stamp Out Electricity Theft Nationwide

ISLAMABAD: In a bold move to tackle the persistent issue of electricity theft plaguing Pakistan, Federal Minister for Power, Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, has spearheaded a comprehensive crackdown, signaling a resolute commitment to uphold the integrity of the nation’s power grid.

Minister Leghari’s proactive stance was unveiled as he issued a clarion call for immediate and stringent measures to combat electricity theft across the country. With an unwavering resolve to eradicate this illegal practice, Minister Leghari has set a decisive deadline of April 23, galvanizing stakeholders nationwide into action.

In a directive that leaves no room for ambiguity, Minister Leghari has tasked the chairmen and CEOs of all Distribution Companies (Discos) with mobilizing their resources effectively to root out electricity theft. Furthermore, he has mandated a stringent verification process, enlisting the cooperation of Superintendent Engineers, Executive Engineers, Subdivisional Officers, and field staff to certify the absence of theft within their operational jurisdictions.

Under Minister Leghari’s vigilant leadership, a robust campaign is underway to identify and neutralize every avenue exploited for electricity theft. Any instances of malpractice or non-compliance will face immediate legal and disciplinary repercussions, ensuring accountability at all levels of operation.
