Federal Government to Set Up HIV Centers Nationwide

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Amid a steady increase in HIV/AIDS cases across the country, the federal health department has decided to establish at least one HIV screening and treatment center in every district, according to a report aired by 24NewsHD.

The initiative aims to strengthen HIV prevention efforts, ensure early diagnosis, and provide timely treatment. In addition, the government plans to roll out comprehensive awareness campaigns and enforce proper screening of individuals entering the country through border points.

The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal, where participants reviewed the current HIV situation, key challenges, and future strategies. Representatives from the Central Management Unit and various international partner organizations were also present.

Addressing the meeting, Kamal emphasized the urgent need to enhance HIV prevention measures, improve early detection, and expand public awareness initiatives. He stressed that effective and accessible healthcare services are essential to controlling the spread of the virus.

The health minister directed authorities to ensure the establishment of at least one fully functional HIV screening and treatment center in each district, enabling patients to access quality care closer to their homes.

He further underlined the importance of strengthening border health services, implementing regulatory recommendations more effectively, and ensuring thorough screening of all incoming travelers. Kamal also called for the development of a regular and transparent reporting system to monitor progress and outcomes.
