Islamabad(Business Reporter);Federal Government Plans Solarization of Agricultural Tube Wells, In a significant environmental initiative, the federal government has announced plans to transition 100,000 agricultural tube wells across Pakistan to solar power. This decision, part of the Prime Minister’s National Program for Agricultural Tube Wells Solarization, aims to enhance sustainability and reduce energy costs in farming.
Under the supervision of the Ministry of National Food Security, the project is slated to be completed within three years through collaboration with provincial authorities. Funding for the initiative will be shared between the federal and provincial governments.
Sources indicate that the solarization effort is expected to cost over Rs. 300 billion. The Ministry of National Food Security is set to submit the project’s detailed plan (PC1) to the Planning Commission for approval shortly.
