Islamabad- The federal cabinet has taken a significant decision, approving the cancellation of agreements with five Independent Power Producers (IPPs).

Details indicate that a special meeting of the federal cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, was held in Islamabad, during which the approval to cancel agreements with the five IPPs was granted.

According to the report, the cancellation of these agreements is expected to result in savings of over Rs. 400 billion, which will provide relief to electricity consumers.

Sources have revealed that the agreements with Hubco, Rousch, Lalpir, Saba, and Atlas power plants have been terminated.
