Federal Cabinet Approves Termination of Contracts with Five Independent Power Producers
Decision Aims to Reduce Electricity Prices
The federal cabinet has decided to terminate contracts with five independent power producers (IPPs) to reduce electricity prices.
During a cabinet meeting held in Islamabad on Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that the terminations were made with the mutual agreement of both the government and the companies involved.
The five IPPs affected by this decision collectively generate 2,400 megawatts for the national grid. The companies involved include:
– Hubco (1,200 MW)
– AES Lal (362 MW)
– Atlas Power (224 MW)
– Saba Power (136 MW)
– Roshan Power Plant (450 MW)
