Federal Cabinet Approves Hike in Vehicle Token Tax Across Pakistan
The decision also allows for a hike in vehicle registration and transfer fees.
Islamabad: The federal government has decided to increase the vehicle token tax, with the Federal Cabinet approving amendments to the West Pakistan Motor Vehicles Act.
According to official details, the approved amendments will lead to an increase in token tax for private, commercial, and public transport vehicles across the country. The decision also allows for a hike in vehicle registration and transfer fees.
The authority to revise these fees will rest with the Ministry of Interior, which stated that the token tax has not been revised since 2019, resulting in a decline in the performance of City Traffic Offices (CTOs).
The cabinet gave formal approval by endorsing the decision made earlier by the Cabinet Committee for Legislative Cases (CCLC).
