Fatima Sana Appointed Pakistan Captain for ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Sunday that Fatima Sana will lead Pakistan’s women’s cricket team in the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. The event, originally set for Bangladesh, will now be hosted in the UAE from October 3 to 20 due to political unrest in Bangladesh.

Fatima Sana, a 22-year-old bowling all-rounder, takes over as captain from Nida Dar, who has represented Pakistan in 112 ODIs and 153 T20Is. Sana has played 41 ODIs and 40 T20Is for Pakistan and previously led Pakistan’s emerging and domestic teams. Notably, she captained the national team to a memorable Super Over win against New Zealand in an ODI at Hagley Oval, Christchurch, in December 2023.
