Fakhar Zaman Banned for Two PSL Matches Over Ball Tampering
Fakhar denied the allegation and contested the charge.
LAHORE (Web Desk) – The Pakistan Cricket Board has suspended Fakhar Zaman for two matches in the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) after he was found guilty of ball tampering during a recent fixture.
According to the PCB, Fakhar committed a Level 3 offence under Article 2.14 of the Code of Conduct during the match between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings held on March 29 at Gaddafi Stadium.
The incident occurred in the closing stages of the match when on-field umpires penalised Lahore Qalandars five runs and ordered a ball change before the final over of Karachi Kings’ innings. The charge was levelled by umpires Shahid Saikat and Faisal Khan Aafreedi, along with TV umpire Asif Yaqoob and fourth umpire Tariq Rasheed.

Fakhar denied the allegation and contested the charge during a full disciplinary hearing. However, match referee Roshan Mahanama upheld the charge after reviewing the evidence and hearing the player’s stance. Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Shah Afridi, team director Sameen Rana, and team manager Farooq Anwar were also present at the hearing.
Following the suspension, Fakhar will miss Lahore Qalandars’ upcoming matches against Multan Sultans on April 3 at Gaddafi Stadium and Islamabad United on April 9 at National Bank Stadium.
The suspension is seen as a major setback for Lahore Qalandars as they head into crucial matches in the tournament.
