Fake Animal Rescuers Exposed in Lahore Abuse Case
Lahore Police Bust Fake Animal Rescuers Exploiting Strays Online
LAHORE: (Web Desk) – A disturbing case of animal abuse has surfaced in Lahore, where a group of individuals posing as animal caregivers was exposed for abducting stray cats and dogs to create misleading social media content.
According to police, the group was not affiliated with any veterinary profession. Instead, they targeted stray animals across several areas of the city, including Islampura, Marghzar Colony, and Sabzazar. The suspects operated in pairs, riding motorcycles while carrying expensive animal food to lure stray cats and dogs.
Once an animal approached, the suspects allegedly used a cloth soaked in a sedative tied to a stick and placed it near the animal’s mouth, rendering it unconscious. The animals were then stuffed into sacks and transported to a secret location where fake “treatment” videos were recorded for online content.
During a police raid on the group’s fake clinic, three individuals were arrested. Authorities recovered 10 cats, 3 dogs, and 16 newborn animals from the premises. According to the FIR, five kittens were found dead at the scene, while the surviving animals were extremely weak and malnourished due to repeated, unnecessary, and fraudulent treatments.

Investigators revealed that the gang primarily targeted female animals, raising serious concerns about exploitation and illegal breeding practices. Officials believe the videos were created solely to gain online views, sympathy, and potential financial benefits.
The gang was arrested following intelligence reports and complaints from concerned citizens and animal welfare activists. Police are continuing investigations to determine the full extent of the operation, including its funding sources and online platforms used to circulate the content.
Authorities have condemned the cruelty involved and urged the public to report suspicious animal rescue activities, emphasizing that animal welfare should never be exploited for social media fame.
