This move aligns with the Punjab government’s 2025 directive for strict enforcement of the Prohibition of Smoking Ordinance 2002, which carries fines of up to Rs100,000 for violations in public spaces. Smoking is prohibited in educational institutions, government offices, hospitals, shopping malls, and public transport, with penalties ranging from Rs1,000 to Rs100,000 depending on the severity of the offence.
Officials emphasized that the ban is part of ongoing efforts to promote public health and reduce tobacco-related risks across the province.
