Explosions rock areas near Pakistan’s embassy in Tehran
Pakistani Diplomats Safe as Explosions Strike Near Tehran Embassy Amid Ongoing US-Israel Airstrikes
Loud explosions rocked the area near Pakistan’s embassy in Tehran on Thursday evening. The blasts happened around 8pm in the city’s Pasdaran district. It was the 28th straight day of aerial strikes on the Iranian capital.
All Pakistani diplomats were safe. But they were clearly shaken.
The explosions hit close to both the embassy building and the ambassador’s home. Local sources believe an Iranian military base just across from the embassy was the real target.
A senior Pakistani diplomat spoke to Geo News after the incident. He said the blasts were loud but caused no damage. “There were loud explosions but our windows did not break,” he said. Staff at the embassy are still worried though. The situation in Tehran remains tense and unpredictable.
Meanwhile Pakistan is not sitting still. Along with Turkiye and Egypt, Islamabad is actively working behind the scenes. The three countries are pushing hard to bring the United States and Iran to a ceasefire. Diplomats are travelling back and forth trying to stop the conflict from getting worse.
For now the Pakistani mission in Tehran is intact. But the danger is very real and very close.
According to sources, Pakistani diplomatic staff continue to carry out their duties despite the challenging and potentially dangerous environment.
The situation is being closely monitored. No casualties or structural damage have been reported so far.
The US-Israel war on Iran began on February 28 after US and Israeli strikes on Iran had claimed hundreds of lives, expanded into neighbouring Middle East countries, and shook the global economy through a surge in energy prices.
According to Iran’s Deputy Health Minister Ali Jafarian, at least 1,937 people, including 240 women and 212 children, were killed.
Over a dozen have been killed in Israel in Iran’s retaliatory strikes, according to Al Jazeera.
