RAWALPINDI : (Web Desk) – Authorities intensified action against the sale of unsafe food items as a team from the Punjab Food Authority carried out a raid in Rawalpindi, destroying a large quantity of expired beverages.
According to reports, the operation was conducted in the Ratta Amral area after officials received credible information about the storage and possible distribution of expired soft drinks and juices. During the raid, the food safety team inspected a warehouse where substandard products of a branded company were being kept.
Officials recovered and destroyed around 16,000 liters of expired cold drinks and juices to prevent them from entering the market. Authorities also discovered that workers at the warehouse were attempting to remove the original expiry dates from bottles using a polishing machine in order to resell the products.
A police team present during the operation arrested the individuals involved in tampering with the expiry dates. A case has been registered against the suspects, and further investigations are underway.

Food safety officials emphasized that strict monitoring is being carried out to ensure that consumers are protected from hazardous and expired food products. They warned that legal action will continue against anyone involved in selling unsafe items.
The action comes at a time when demand for soft drinks and juices significantly rises during Ramadan, making it crucial for authorities to prevent the circulation of expired or unhygienic beverages in the market.
