CDA Chairman Praises Ethiopian Envoy’s Green Leadership

Islamabad (News Desk) – H.E. Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of Ethiopia, has been honored with the title of “Ambassador of Margalla Hills National Park” for his dedicated efforts to promote environmental conservation and a greener Islamabad.

The title was conferred by H.E. Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, during a meeting at the CDA Headquarters.

The two officials explored collaboration opportunities in smart city solutions, urban greenery, and capacity building through institutional linkages and technical exchanges. Dr. Jemal Beker also briefed the CDA Chairman on Ethiopia’s ambitious corridor development project led by Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed, which focuses on urban infrastructure, mass tree plantations, and riverside beautification.

The Ambassador proposed establishing a sister city partnership between Addis Ababa and Islamabad to enhance cultural and commercial ties. He also announced the Ethiopian Embassy’s upcoming tree plantation campaign in Islamabad as part of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s “Green Legacy Initiative,” inviting the CDA Chairman to participate.

Chairman Randhawa shared updates on Islamabad’s ongoing and completed development projects and reiterated CDA’s vision to develop the capital as a modern, inclusive, and environmentally sustainable city. He praised Dr. Jemal Beker’s leadership in clean and green campaigns, especially efforts within Margalla Hills National Park, and expressed interest in learning from Ethiopia’s urban sustainability initiatives.

This collaboration highlights shared commitments to environmental protection and sustainable urban growth between Pakistan and Ethiopia.
