Ethiopia Invites Islamabad Business Community for 2nd Trade Delegation

The comprehensive delegation plan includes business forums, visits to industrial and ICT parks, meetings with government officials.

ISLAMABAD: Ambassador Jemal Beker Abdula, representing the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) in Pakistan, recently joined hands with Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) President Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari to rally the business community towards participation in the upcoming 2nd Business and Trade Delegation to Ethiopia.

The business forum, held at ICCI, garnered significant attention from various sectors, aiming to encourage Islamabad’s business leaders to engage in the delegation scheduled from May 26th to May 31st, 2024. Ambassador Beker highlighted Ethiopia’s economic reforms across key sectors like agriculture, manufacturing, mining, tourism, and ICT, inviting Pakistani delegates to explore promising investment opportunities.

The comprehensive delegation plan includes business forums, visits to industrial and ICT parks, meetings with government officials, tours of tourist destinations, and cultural nights in Addis Ababa. Ambassador Beker also mentioned the concurrent 6th Addis Chamber International Manufacturing and Technology Trade Fair, offering a platform for global manufacturers, promising ample networking opportunities.

President Bakhtawari shared his positive experiences from the previous delegation, praising Ethiopia’s hospitality and emphasizing the mutual trust and friendship between the two nations. He urged Islamabad’s business community to seize this opportunity, highlighting Ethiopia’s strategic significance as a gateway to Africa, notably with Ethiopian Airlines now operational in Karachi.

Acknowledging Ambassador Beker’s role in enhancing bilateral relations, Bakhtawari emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between Ethiopia and Pakistan.
