Meyer to Reinforce U.S.-Pakistan Counterterrorism Cooperation
ISLAMABAD: Eric Meyer, Senior Bureau Official (SBO) for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, will lead a U.S. interagency delegation to Pakistan from April 8-10, 2025, with the aim of advancing U.S. interests in the critical minerals sector. Meyer’s visit will coincide with the Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum, where he will meet with senior Pakistani officials to foster opportunities for American businesses and strengthen economic ties between the two nations.
The delegation’s primary focus will be exploring avenues for U.S. investment in Pakistan’s burgeoning critical minerals sector, which is seen as crucial for both economic growth and the development of key industries. As global demand for critical minerals such as lithium, cobalt, and rare earth elements continues to rise, Pakistan’s potential to contribute to this market has drawn international attention.
During his visit, SBO Meyer will engage with senior Pakistani leaders to discuss ways to deepen the economic relationship and expand opportunities for American businesses in Pakistan, particularly in the mining and energy sectors. Meyer will also emphasize the importance of enhancing bilateral trade and investment as part of a broader effort to solidify economic partnerships between the two countries.
