Religious scholar and YouTuber Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza has been booked in Jhelum after a case was registered against him for allegedly using blasphemous language in a video.

FIR registered under blasphemy and cybercrime laws

According to officials, the case includes Section 295-C of the Pakistan Penal Code, which deals with blasphemy-related offenses, and provisions of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016. Police stated that the FIR was lodged at the City Police Station in Jhelum.

Arrest under 3 MPO

Law enforcement authorities said that Engineer Mirza was arrested on Monday night under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) and shifted to jail. The move comes amid rising controversy over his remarks in the online video, which drew criticism from religious groups.

Arrest under DC’s orders

According to police officials, Mirza was arrested on the directives of the Jhelum deputy commissioner and later transferred to jail. The arrest was carried out as part of administrative measures under the 3 MPO law, which allows detention to maintain public order.

Academy locked and sealed

 

Authorities also sealed Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza’s academy, locking its premises to prevent any gatherings or activities. The action comes amid heightened monitoring of religious institutions across the district.
