Damascus: In a significant development in Syria, the military command has officially announced the end of President Bashar al-Assad’s 24-year reign. Following Assad’s departure from the country, Abu Mohammad al-Jolani, the leader of the rebel group Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, declared that former Prime Minister Mohammad Ghazi al-Jalali would oversee the country’s state institutions until a peaceful transfer of power is achieved.
